Words That Hold Us Back!

Words are so powerful and a lot of times they are wrapped in feeling and emotion. If you look at where you are in your life or the circumstances you are experiencing I am sure the words in your vocabulary will be directly related. Therefore it is of the most importance to speak words that are positive and empowering. Below are some words that hold us back....

1. Can't or Cannot
This is a terribly negative word and it is completely self limiting. Using this word is the reason why your hopes and dreams do not go any where. You are sure to see a positive change in your life if you eliminate this word entirely!

2. Should
The word "should" has a feeling of guilt surrounding it. "I should go to the gym," makes you feel guilty for not going. Use the word "choose" as in, "I choose to go to the gym, or I choose not to go to the gym today." Or better yet...stop procrastinating and get to the gym! Sometimes just doing the action clears up all that guilt! How empowering is that?

3. But
This is a sneaky word to be avoided at all costs. When you use the word "but" you are negating whatever statement you have said. For example: I want to get in shape and feel healthy, but it will take a lot of hard work. Your mind does not focus on your desire to get in shape and feel healthy; it only sees the hard work. You could say: I want to get in shape and feel healthy. It will be hard work but I am worth it!

4. If
"If" is a small word that carries a lot of negative punch! Using this word often can cause doubt in our self confidence and intentions. This impedes any type of success.

5. Maybe
Maybe is an indecisive word full of doubt. This word emits a feeling of lack of confidence and resolve. Try using more confident words like "I will" because these words automatically emit a feeling of confidence which are so critical to your personal well-being.

6. Sooner or Later or someday
These words are pretty non-committal and should be replaced with a defintie time and date. Using these words emits a feeling of lack of committment and integrity.

7. Never
This is a powerful negative word and it indicates a closed mind. Try not to use this word because in order to grow we must be open minded. I guess that phrase "never say never" was created for a reason!

8. Won't or Will Not
These words imply an unwillingness, reluctance, or closed mindedness, and is much like the word "never" so avoiding these words can keep the mind open and keep us on the path towards our goals.

9. Try or (I'll Try)
This is a non committal word and usually represents something that will not get done. Replace it with "I will."

12 Life Lessons I Learned From My Cat

- Jonathan Lockwood Huie
My friend Wendell sent this to me yesterday and I thought it was something to share! Hope you like it and Thank You Wendell!!!

  1. Pounce on opportunity. He who hesitates, misses catching the passing lizard.

  2. Patience. Infinite patience...

  3. Concentration. A cat studying an opportunity just beyond his grasp is the epitome of focused attention. He doesn't even blink as he tunes out all distractions. His body is completely still except for his wildly twitching tail releasing his nervous energy.

  4. Nothing is worth disturbing your beauty sleep.

  5. Catnap. Even a few moments of shut-eye is refreshing.

  6. If you're happy, purr. Show your appreciation by letting people know that you like what they do.

  7. Do cat stretches - and other yoga poses, and try Qigong. Especially as we age, gentle stretching is one of the best things we can do for our bodies.

  8. Wrestle with your best friend. She likes it when you're playful.

  9. Eat when you're hungry and not by the clock.

  10. Ask for what you want. If you are lovable and patient, you will probably get it.

  11. You can't have everything you want. If you put your claws where they don't belong, you're going to get spanked.

  12. Revel in life's simple pleasures. A ball of string is magic. Catnip is heavenly.
